All the time! Everyone is a PM at some point. Planning a nice vacation, Thanksgiving dinner with lots of family, remodel a bathroom or create a garden in your yard…..all have and need elements of PM. Most likely you’ll think about scope, budget, timelines, stakeholders, risk, etc. So while it may not make it into a formal PM tool, we’re all practicing it on some level in our lives.

I seldom use such skills in my person life unless I am following some specific learning goal. Small projects such as changing the yard are small enough that a quick discussion of what needs done then quickly do the task. Larger projects are often hired out: (cost in time learning skills and doing the project, mistakes and other setbacks, material, guarantee of work/warrantee for house editions, etc. often make it a better deal to hire out.). The person hired is responsible to the Project Management side and I just make sure they are hitting their timelines and budget.
