Returnship interview Question

I happily spent 10 years at a company and left when I got injured. I sustained a permanent injury so I am technically permanently partially disabled. Now I have been selected to interview for their returnship program. How do I refer to that time? How do I explain leaving? I did a whole lot since then - including finishing my Masters, working freelance, trying two other careers and having and raising multiple children. I think this might be a good opportunity... I dont know how to present myself Suggestions?

I would call it a Medical Career Break, and give the time line and accomplishments. In my cover letter brief explanation.

There is really no "art" to telling the truth. Simply state what you wrote in your original posting...you raised your children, finished your education, worked freelance and tested two other career opportunities...all while recovering from an life changing injury. Be proud and show that pride!!! You have done and are doing the damn thang, girl...WORK IT DIVA!!!!

Would the existing injury be exacerbated by the work they are proposing? If not, just keep in mind that they are reaching out to you, not the other way around. I wouldn't overthink that part. You sustained an injury that required substantial recuperation time and you've been doing other things since then. You're excited at the prospect of working again for a company that left you with such fond memories.
