Our world is in turmoil. It’s undeniable. Take the coronavirus and the horrific death of George Floyd for starters. But I’m also hopeful that our struggles have the potential to generate a much better world. The world I’m committed to creating is a peaceful world that allows all of us to express our best, every single day. I believe that when all of us — worldwide — share the incredible challenges to our physical, emotional, and economic well-being — we can recognize and value our shared humanity. I’m hearing so many more voices than ever saying, “Hey, it’s unacceptable that people can lose their lives for the color of their skin.” And people recognizing “it’s messed up that the gap between the rich and the poor is greater than ever.” I sense that the world is waking up to our interconnection and shared humanity. No, not everyone is awakened. But enough of us are to make a difference. To create a world that’s fairer, more just, more positive, more caring, more accepting.
