In your experience, what is the single most important thing to highlight on your resume to stand out when applying to roles in a different career field/industry?

Hi Tricia, it really depends on the industry and the person. There might be something about you that is extremely marketable in your new industry, but you might be against other candidates who have differing stand-out strengths. When changing industries, I have found that leveraging your current network is the most effective way to find a new role. If you don't feel good about your resume, I would recommend looking for a professional resume writer who spends time getting to know you and drawing out your experience, strengths and skills. Be careful as many writers don't spend nearly enough time- the key is making sure the information you are including is valuable and less about the formatting and wording. If they don't spend at least 90 minutes learning about you- I would say that's not enough.
