Creating my dream role
Hi everyone! I'd like some advice please. I have been in HR for over 16 yrs, and quite enjoy what I do (and have received awards for my work too!) . Due to org changes, I will be leaving this job in a few months. As I think about my next role, I want to be doing something related, but different from what i do now.
I am an HRBP, and I want to do more project-oriented work. I want to do change management projects, ideally for organizational & technological changes. I have signed up for a course, but I don't have a lot of experience in this area.
I have led a few smaller projects that I can leverage, but nothing at a larger scale.
1. How and where do I start positioning myself for such roles, without being laughed out of the room?
2. Will my HR experience seem relevant to this new role? I don't want to start from scratch.
Thanks for your advice!
HR teaches you so many valuable skills (like people skills!) that you will definitely be able to leverage in a new role. Have you started networking with people more aligned with the job and industry you're looking to move into?
Hi, I haven't, yet. This is a sort of hybrid role, so I am asking around to find people who do this.
