Interested in consulting

Hi ladies! I'm glad to be part of the FairyGodBoss community! I currently work as a Technical Recruiter and do career coaching on the side, but I would like to learn more about consulting. I enjoy working with different team and projects, and feel this might be a better fit for me. I have been searching on LinkedIn. What companies should I look into? What are some areas I can get more info on consulting? I appreciate any advice! Thanks you!

Hi Bedillia. In today's environment consulting can mean a lot of things. When I started my career I worked for a large organization and was considered an "internal" consultant. I was brought into all types of projects inside the company. This is sometimes referred to as shared service groups. As for companies that provide consulting services to their clients, they come in all different shapes and sizes! It depends on where you are located as to what might be available. The two big ones that provide a variety of consulting services are are Accenture and Deloitte. There are also companies that specialize in accounting/financial services, IT, and healthcare. Sometimes a great way to get your foot in the door is to find one that has a staff position and start there, so for instance go in as a recruiter since you have a background in that. As you learn more about the organization and build relationships, you can sometimes transition to a client-facing role. Hope this helps!
