World values = women of lower value
There is a backlash against women's rights.
There. I said it.
The UNDP's World Values Survey, results out today, shows this reality:
*Almost 90% of people are biased against women.
Yes there's been progress in closing the equality gap, BUT
*91% of men, 86% of women hold at least one bias against women in relation to politics, economics, education, violence or reproductive rights.
*Almost half feel men are superior political leaders.
*More than 40% believe men make better business executives.
*Almost a third of men & women think it’s acceptable for a man to beat his wife.
*Of 75 countries studied, only 6 had a majority of people who held no bias towards women.
The director of the human development report office is shocked by the figures. Are you?
When it comes to enabling women at work - eg training that's specific to them, I am told by global companies - off the record - that they don't want to offer women-centric training.
Is it a push back the pushback? Yes I am told.
This is a HUGE issue. What can you do about it?
