Burnout Survival

Glad to be here!

:) I am burning out... I'm looking for a support group during a transitional time with likeminded people. I'm in business school part time and working two jobs. I graduate in May 2022 with an MBA and with honors. I'm looking for my next move. The current job I do, I'm not really satisfied with it. I'm underpaid, been underrepresented, and the direction that leadership is going with my group is causing major burnout. I'm hoping to transition from two jobs to one with better pay and room for growth, whether that be internally or externally. I'd hope to have a career that allows me to utilize my skills and pays well enough to afford a worklife balance where I can focus on wellness and other passions.

Have you tried meetup for a women,s support group? I work with women individually which is going to your next level or in a group zoom setting. It's reasonable and forms connection.

Your plan is good. However, be cautious about taking on too much and failing to set boundaries in whatever job you get. Sometimes it is easy to take on too much so that even when you love your work, you get burned out because of exhaustion/feeling like you're not getting enough done.

Your plan is perfectly reasonable and absolutely doable. Especially given that you've now completed your education and have some experience under your belt. I would start networking with alumni, professional organizations and local business groups like the chamber of commerce so people in the position of hiring and are plugged into the business arena in your industry and in your locale know you and can keep you in mind for top positions that may never get advertised on Jon boards. Get your resume in order and get ready for interviews by practicing friends and watching videos for tips to polish your presentation. Good luch!

Thank you! This was really helpful. I plan on going to my honors society's leadership summit in November, and NBMBAA's conference digitally next month (September). I found out about that one recently and unfortunately the window is too short to go to it physically, but I joined their local chapter and will attend their local and national events in the future.

About this group

We are in this together. Burnout is real and it can impact every single part of your life. The good news: This is your space to share, connect, learn and lean on other women who have been where you are and are ready, willing, and able to help you get where you want to be. It can feel lonely. If you are a director, manager, or team leader you can't talk to your peers at work for fear of being seen as weak. You can't talk with your boss or leadership board because you ...Read more
