Is there anyone like me who is in their late 50s and not even close to retiring? I feel alone!
Yes. Plus I have to make up lost time as a mil spouse for 20. Now oldest Vet we have been helping out, and is experiencing health problems. I do believe I will be looking into higher salary and leaving ungrateful job if I can. Plus extra long commute.
I have a spouse who took the Fed out option, a son who quit his job (he claims he has enough to live on for awhile), and a Vet son with medical, working, struggling with health. I feel so much financial weight. I have some funds, and retirement funds in the sidelines, but with inflation, and life just happening, . . . you can be broke in a snap. then personal relationship has been an on going struggle...leave/stay? wow, I never imagined my life like this, but am self reflecting and I guess some things are like they are because of choices made, and not taking action because so beat down. thanks.
I could retire but I don't want to! I really enjoy the challenges and ops.
You're not alone. I'm the same. My retirement isn't where I want it to be and with SS requirements, I have to work until at least 67. I plan to work as long as I'm able, though I hope to retire from my current job (I'll have been here over 30 years at that point) and then teach full time.
I'm 69 and shifted to fully remote contracting about 5 years ago. I work part-time and from wherever I want. So I'll be working a couple more years. I'm healthy and love the freedom.

I am a few months from 62 and no stopping yet. While I may want to change where I work (commute is getting to me) - I will always be doing something...
I'm 58 and still going strong.
Me, I’m 59 and was planning to work until 67/70! I loved my job until I was furloughed!☹️
