Your experience may depend entirely on which part of the organization you work for- some are far more flexible than others.

The parental leave policy is great, but certain male leaders seem to resent people who take advantage of parental leave (both men and women). If you're a man, you'll be discouraged from taking the full 6 weeks, and if you're a woman they'll downgrade your role on an engagement to something less meaningful (essentially "mommy-tracking" you). Note that I've only seen this in the NY office, and PwC is obviously a big place.

Great company, but they need to work on a healthier work/life balance if they want to keep talented employees.

If you are a working mom, be cautious. Be up front about the flexibility you need. They definitely aren't going to offer it to you, you have to stand up and take it.

The benefits are great, but men are often promoted more quickly because it is a boys club. It is about who you know and many of the men do not take the time to get to know the women.

I was at another firm when I had my kids, but they are very respectful of maternity leave. No paid maternity leave though. A number of women work on flex time schedules. I have flexibility in when and where I work to an extent. I wish there were more female partners.

The firm is extremely flexible. If you have to leave to run to an appointment or work from home, it is perfectly acceptable. However, the hours can be very high during peak tax season.

Between short term disability covered by the firm and paid maternity leave, most people take up to 6 months off. PTO can be taken in addition to the paid weeks and in California, state maternity leave can be taken on top of that. When returning to work, a reduced schedule is offered for a year (with a corresponding salary percentage).
