Samsung HQ has great policies for women and they are fairly strict at sticking to it. The management is good at respecting time-off for maternity leave.
I have worked here for 3 years and as I have become more senior I have experienced negative comments regarding my gender from my superiors and they appear to be hiring fewer and fewer females
I loved his company, but FMLA only applies to areas where there are more than 50 employees in a specific geographical radius, so if you work in a branch office which does not have several others nearby, FMLA leave is unavailable. Instead, maternity leave is treated as a short term disability claim, meaning 6 weeks paid at a certain percentage of your salary (8 wks for C-section). It was because of this that I left the company. I returned to work when my child was 7 weeks old and it was just too difficult and expensive. Otherwise, I this this is a fabulous company for women, especially since most of the branches I worked for were staffed by a majority, if not all, women.
I have worked for Nordstrom for over 20 years and while this is not a job for everyone, it has worked out very well for me. I have held many positions within the company, which is what makes it so attractive. You are able to advance to any position in any location.
This applies to men as well as women, retail hours are incredibly demanding.
There is opportunities to move up the chain fairly quickly, but their sick day policy is not conducive to being a parent and trying to split the the time. It is better to take the entire week rather than every other day and sharing with your spouse, because consecutive days counts as one and split shifts count as individual occurrences.
I worked for the company for 4 years. The couple I was in heaven.I loved every minute of my job. I noticed a lot of my co-workers were so upset and complained about the company, ethics and managers. With my time working there i noticed the company had no regard for your family life and overall well being. My advice pay attention to the people who work for the company when you first work there. I knew many of the co-workers were drained, but i thought that was based on at home life. Now I know, where there is smoke.. there's fire!
