What kinds of benefits do you look for when you start a new job? If you’re one of the millions of Americans struggling to build a family, you might consider looking for a company that offers infertility coverage.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the most effective form of assisted reproductive technology and involves a series of procedures to help with fertility and conception of a child. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 7 million women have used infertility services since 2011. Yet when it comes to cost, a single round of IVF can cost as much as $20,000 and often requires more than one try.

Companies like Quicken Loans® are increasingly stepping up to assist with these astronomical costs. As of this year, more than 400 U.S. companies offer benefits for fertility treatments, according to data by FertilityIQ. Historically, these types of benefits were uncommon, but more companies are upgrading benefits packages to even include coverage of multiple IVF cycles.

IVF Benefits At Quicken Loans

Quicken Loans team members who are thinking about growing their family are eligible for comprehensive fertility benefits that remove financial barriers and provide emotional support and education.

Debbie Kennedy, a Director of Mortgage Banking at Quicken Loans, experienced three miscarriages over the course of 3 years before turning to IVF. Today, she has a beautiful daughter named Finley.

“If it wasn’t for the benefits that Quicken Loans offers for IVF, we would never have been able to have our daughter,” she said. “It took us four rounds of IVF, each round covered by Quicken Loans, and this is something we would never have been able to afford to do without financial assistance.”

The financial burden of IVF is a common concern for most families turning to this type of fertility treatment. Just like Kennedy, Quicken Loans Team Leader of Production Strategy Megan Boss can also attest firsthand to this.

“Learning that you need to utilize IVF in order to have a baby is scary enough, but then having to think about how to pay for it is another thing entirely,” she said. “The amazing benefits package at Quicken Loans allowed my husband and I to enter that conversation as if we had a winning lottery ticket. It took the fear out of, ‘How can we pay for this?,’ and allowed it to purely be, ‘What do we need to do in order to have a baby?’”

For Quicken Loans Associate Underwriter Jen Criger, after spending more than 4 years visiting several doctors and undergoing fertility drug trials with no success, IVF was her last resort.

“Without Quicken Loans having IVF benefits, this is something my husband and I never would have been able to have,” she said. “Because of having this IVF benefit and being able to have my amazing son, I find that I work so much harder every day because I need and want to provide the best life possible for him. It is a major driving force in everything that I do.”

Family Focus

Whether you’re a new parent or just starting the process of growing your family, Quicken Loans provides its team members with helpful resources every step of the way. You might not need IVF, but a variety of other support resources are available for before and after children enter your life, including on-site child care, monthly parent group meet-ups and 6 weeks of paid maternity leave.
