“A lot of companies say they have a great culture or have great people, but that’s not always true,” says Christine Fierro, senior practice manager at World Wide Technology  (WWT). “I never fully understood that until coming to WWT and being part of it here.”

World Wide Technology, a global technology solutions provider with $14.5 billion in annual revenue, is a place where Christine says she and her colleagues are “thinkers and doers, solving complex business challenges with practical, actionable and innovative technology solutions.”

It’s no wonder why 100% of FGBers say women are treated fairly and equally to men, would recommend the company to other women and believe WWT CEO Jim Kavanaugh supports gender diversity.

The company has consistently received high marks on Fortune's annual list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, the 100 Best Workplaces for Women, the 100 Best Workplaces for Diversity, and the 150 Best Small and Medium Companies to Work For. And Kavanaugh’s personal commitment to ensuring a great work culture is reflected in accolades such as the Great Place to Work® For All™ Leadership Awards.

"The company's core values, 'THE PATH' (Trust, Humility, Embracing change and the diversity of people and thought, Passion, Attitude, Team Player, and Honesty & integrity) aren't just on paper or internal-facing.” Fierro says that the people at WWT apply them to the work they do every day to drive innovative solutions for customers in collaboration with leading technology partners.

“You’ll find our core values everywhere at WWT: On walls, on our badges, in slide decks, and, most importantly, in the people,” she explains. “Our culture is amazing and what sets us apart. Even though we’ve grown rapidly, there’s still a family mentality, and people are always willing to help out, even if they don’t know you.”Here, we caught up with Fierro to learn more about WWT’s core values and company culture. Here’s what she had to say.

Describe a few employee benefits that positively impact women who work at World Wide Technology

The biggest benefit in my opinion is LEAD, our Women’s Employee Resource Group. LEAD provides a way for women across the entire company to Learn from each other, Empower those around us, and Amplify voices to Drive opportunities for women.

In addition to LEAD, there are also sub-groups based on organizations within the company, location, type of role and interests that all offer ways to grow and foster relationships. I’m on the LEAD advisory committee, and I also run our Women in Global Engineering sub-group. The experiences I’ve had and relationships I’ve made so far have been amazing.

We also have great benefits for working moms, including our Milk Stork program, which makes it easier for nursing moms to travel for work. I think one of our most unique and impressive benefits is our on-site Family Health Center (FHC) at our Edwardsville and Maryland Heights locations. WWT knows the importance of offering great health benefits, and the FHC is a great extension of our overall healthcare benefits. The services at these clinics are available to all employees, part-time and full-time, regardless of health plan status or location. Employee family members who are on the WWT healthcare plan also have access to these clinics. The best part? It’s free!

What career development opportunities can women job seekers expect at World Wide Technology? How is career pathing approached?

Career development is very important here at WWT. Our corporate learning team recently launched the Career Framework program for all global employees that is designed to give employees more clarity into the skills required for success for all roles across WWT. This framework gives employees better insight into roles, career paths and expectations, as they plan their career goals in collaboration with their manager. Employees can view the requirements of their current role and the next in-line position in their own job family, as well as explore new career paths in all departments.

In addition to the Career Framework, some teams also have supplementary role descriptions for the various levels within their organization to provide further specific responsibilities and functions of the various positions.

Is there anything else women should know about pursuing a career at World Wide Technology?

It’s a great place to work and is very inclusive. Women have risen to various levels of leadership throughout the company, which is an encouraging thing to see, especially  in a male-dominated industry like technology.
