We recently read an
article based on a
Stanford University study of young, childless couples in the SF Bay area that suggests women are scaling back their careers even earlier than you might think.
The study found that women are scaling back even their education — much less their careers — in anticipation of having children in the future. For those of you who read Sheryl Sandberg's book "Lean In," you know that she advises women to not decelerate their careers before they have actual obligations.
This article by
Mother.ly (a great new resource for moms) agrees with Sandberg's viewpoint and summarizes the Stanford study's findings well. Read it
