A company I'm interested in has a starting salary that is 20k lower than what I'm interested in.

How realistic are starting salaries? Is it not worth applying for?

How to how reposition myself at work?
I recently realized that I'm one of the people at work that are assigned the tedious and non-glamorous work. This type of work usually requires a lot of running around and stress. But in the long run my organization does not count these things when giving opportunities and awards. So it ends up being a waste of time on my part. No one ever really offers me help and I'm never considered for big opportunities.
But I noticed there are some people who get selected for responsibilities that would typically only require making a few calls from home. They receive a lot of help on moves to make that will advance their careers and they are the ‘winners’ in the organization.
This is not just a work issue because I have noticed this pattern in various aspects of my life as well.
A friend of mine says it's because I have positioned myself to be someone who wouldn't mind non-glamorous work. He also says the way I dress, which is simple and casual, is a contributing factor to that general assumption. He says I need to start by dressing really glamorous, even if it means spending a lot on clothes and make up.

Going on a work-trip to an exotic beachfront hotel for an entire week.
What do I wear and more importantly how do I act?
My team is 8 people. I have one other woman on my team. The rest are men including my boss. There will be other women from other teams but not in all scenarios. My female coworker on my direct team can not make it. I am excited and worried about having to be in a scenario I don't want to be in.
Any advice? I bought some long sleeves and long linen pants.

What to do when no written sign-offs?
I've worked with a few bosses who don't sign-off via email. Sometimes, I've relied on their verbal sign-offs and followed-up with documentation via email. But recently, a leader said that she didn't sign-off even with that step. What do you do if you're on a time-sensitive high-priority project, leaders won't sign-off via email, and you feel you're being scapegoated and have been asked not to report on project or talk to any stakeholders where you could clear up where the project is pending?

How to politely correct ex-coworker at public events?
7 years ago I left a team of undermining coworkers who would try to take credit for my work, blame me for their mistakes, accuse me of underperforming but couldn't say why. My career took off after I left - got a better job, wrote a book and am now asked to speak at events and networking groups in my field.
Problem is one of the ex-worker has started turning up to these events. She'll approach me while I'm talking to people to introduce herself and say things aren't true - in front of me, e.g:
"MG worked for me and she left because we were too boring for her. She's always been a bit flighty, hahaha." (Bull**** She was a coworker, not my manager and why I left is none of her business. I even told her so a few years ago when she approached me at the shops demanding to know why I left. We live in a small town.)
"I taught her everything she knows" (No. She used to try to present my work as her own and say it was a teaching moment)
"MG, I'm so glad in you're in a better headspace now. Let's catch up for coffee."
(Insinuating I have personal issues. And coffee??!! You gotta be kidding me)
Ex-worker is relying on the fact that it's in public. People who don't know her think she's just being friendly and joking.
She's saying these things in front of me, so if I say nothing it's like I'm agreeing with her.
Does anyone have advice on how to respond in public?
