After 6 months I was offered (and started) a temp to hire position, so after 3 months I’ll be sure if this will become permanent, should I update my LinkedIn profile or wait?

I don't since I continue to job search until I have a full-time permanent position and have held that position for at least 90 days.

Hi there! I would update. Still very valuable experience. Can show as a contract role and then when permanent you can make the update. Could also show your capability and willingness to fulfill contract or consulting roles in the future if that is desired future direction. Hope this helps!

    I'd wait.

    I'd pause on updating LI.

I wouldn't update your LI profile yet. And don't even count on the job going permanent. Client companies will promise you the moon, then turn around and pull the rug from under your feet at the last minute.

And until you get that offer of permanent employment, in writing, from your agency and/or the client company, keep looking for a permanent job!!!

Agree with others, wait. Though acknowledging that waiting really is the hardest part.

Honestly? Until that position actually is a permanent role I would off on updating my profile.

Can you clarify what you have on your LI profile now? If it shows that you're not working, I always recommend jobseekers fill in holes if they can.

Personally, I think it's better to show you're working - especially if you are - that to make it look like you've been out of work for six months.

I'm not sure what you're thinking the downside of listing this position on your profile would be - do you have it on your resume?

You can list it as a contract role so if recruiters or hiring managers are looking at your profile, they can tell you're probably looking for a permanent position.

    You can list it as:

    PROJECT MANAGER

    ABC Company - Contract

    November, 2023 to Present
