Be proactive managing your career- when leasfership changes the scope of your job, be proactive and discuss what resources you need to manage the scope change. I recently saw a high-performing woman given more responsibility to run the skincare business. This added scope didn’t come with a promotion- she was told to do the work and the promotion would later come. At the same time, a male colleague was given more responsibility for contouring business. This added responsibility came with a promotion and vp title. The takeaway: men are given a promotion first, THEN asked to do more work. Women are asked to do more work first, without a promotion.
