Our mission at Pinterest is to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love. And this starts with helping our Pinployees create a career they love. We believe that everyone should be able to discover things that inspire them. It’s a higher purpose and concrete challenge that our employees embody every day.
Pinners can’t be inspired if they don’t feel represented. This is why we continually add features to diversify content in feeds, recommendations, and search results. We’ve built features such as AR Try on and skin tone ranges. We also block hateful terms, misinformation, and weight loss ads.
For many, creating a life they love extends to the communities where they live. This is why we provide financial support to, and partner with, organizations dedicated to justice, equity, and wellness such as NAACP, AAJC, DevColor, SPLC, Othering & Belonging Institute, CARE, Girls Who Code, National Alliance to End Homelessness, and more.
Our core values bring Pinterest to life:
Put Pinners first. Pinners are what we affectionately call our users. Our goal is to make Pinners’ lives better. If the products don’t work for them, they don’t work for us.
Care with candor. We believe that honest feedback, delivered with respect, builds trust and supports growth. We always assume positive intent.
Be an owner. We all own Pinterest and work to achieve results that benefit everyone, not just specific teams or individuals.
Win or learn. Pinterest is all about growing and learning from experimentation, and we believe in the same spirit of expiration within our walls.
Act with integrity. We act with integrity. We do what we say we are going to do, and we admit when we make mistakes.
Pinterest is the world’s leading visual discovery engine. Millions of people around the world come to Pinterest every day to explore, try something new, and find their next big idea or project. . Our mission as a company is to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love.
Today, more than 475 million people come to the platform every month to discover something new whether that’s a new dinner recipe, rainy-day activity for their child, or planning a once-in-a-lifetime event. At Pinterest, we want people to find inspiration and then go try their idea in the real world. While inspiration happens on the platform, action brings that idea to life.
Our headquarters are in San Francisco, CA. We have over 2,500 employees (plus ~1,100 contractors) in offices across the globe, including in Atlanta, Berlin, Chicago, Detroit, Dublin, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, Portland, Paris, São Paulo, Seattle and Tokyo.
Pinterest has achieved pay equity across gender and race in the U.S. This means equal pay for comparable work. Over the last year we introduced increased compensation range and level transparency and have continued to refine our internal processes. In a dynamic workplace, maintaining pay equity requires vigilance and ongoing monitoring. Twice a year we analyze compensation and make adjustments when necessary to continue to stand by this very important commitment.
Since 2015, we have been publicly releasing our annual diversity reports. View 2021 report here. Here are some important callouts from the most recent report:
50% of global employees are women (up from 49% the previous year)
30% of leadership roles are held by women (up from 25% the previous year)
36% of new hires in engineering were women (up from 27% the previous year)
We work every day to improve our culture and representation of diverse groups.
