"Some teams are very supportive with growth opportunities, but others are rigid, and as a woman you may have to fight to be heard, literally and metaphorically. Maternity leave is good, but in terms of general work life balance some managers will look down on you for choosing to take time to off or will expect you to be available at all hours in a job that shouldn't require it."

"It's a good place to learn underwriting. But raises are few and far between, and the people making the big decisions often have very little idea of or concern for the actual effects. "

"It takes a lot of work to investigate where you stand relative to peers (in compensation and otherwise). Depending on the office, it may be difficult to get relevant information from others at your same level. "
