"Lovely place to work overall, pride in the mission. Not always room for advancement but that is true overall in higher education and why people end up leaving for another school to move up."

"The hours are great in higher education - you can come early and leave early for most jobs, or pick your own hours, but in general work from home is not an option in most departments. Higher education is very much a work at work culture unless you get lucky with a specific boss or department."

"If you save up enough sick days you can use those too and they accrue quickly so parental leave is pieced together from a few different sources. You can also do one year of unpaid leave and still come back to your job."

"Union organization does have its benefits. Full pay for 14 weeks of maternity leave, and a 35 hour week is full time. "
