"Caterpillar is a great company to work for and there are many opportunities to advance and work in different areas. Work-life balance can be very difficult, though."

"Caterpillar is a great place to work, with good pay and decent benefits. There are still some pockets of sexism or overall “old fashioned” or rigid views toward workplace flexibility, but it has never held me back from growing or progressing. And with Caterpillar’s response to the pandemic, where so many of us are working remotely, it should prove to the rigid ones that flexibility can not only work, but enhance productivity. "

"Needs to be applied consistently across the enterprise. The culture of flexibility often depends on the business unit you belong to, and/or your supervisor. I felt compelled to leave a job I loved and had quite a bit of expertise with, because my supervisor was so rigid and punitive. I was able to move to another position within the company where the work culture is so much better, but if flexibility and respect for employees was part of the entire culture, I wouldn’t have had to switch jobs in the first place."

"Hours are not bad, time off is respected. Very old-school, good old boy culture. Not a lot of flexibility, and what there is is left to the individual managers. "

"The corporate culture is toxic. I met some wonderful people at Cat, but it is the most white male dominated culture and is not welcoming of innovation. The compensation is great, but you pay for it with your mental and emotional well-being. While there I had high scoring performance reviews which included feedback like, "just be quiet in meetings, you need to know your place," and "you should smile less, you look incompetent when you smile"."

"One of the best managers I've ever had was at Cat. Also the most belittling toxic leader of my adult career was there. It's really luck on what you might end up with bc they don't tend to discipline or coach poor leaders."
