While women can make it, its a lot harder. There is still an old boys network in place that makes it harder.

I have worked here for a year and while there are lots of women here, many do decide to leave the firm after 3-5 years. Management is dominated by males, which can make it harder for girls to get onto engagement teams. Expect long hours without any notice, and no set long-term schedule.

Maybe. As a Consultant, the hours that I work can be very unpredictable. If you are someone who enjoys working on short term engagements that are more of a sprint than a marathon pace then this is the perfect enviornment for you. If you, like myself, prefer a long-term schedule then I would not recommend this type of environment for you.

I think the makes active efforts to promote women to senior roles. The maternity leave is very generous. In the consulting practice though I feel that the requirements for travel are unfriendly for parents (of either gender). The practice promotes "flexibility and predictability" but this larger depends on your manager and most consulting projects still require weekly travel Monday - Thursday. This is part of the reason I have decided to leave consulting. The firm has lots of benefits but I feel there is a very particular "type" of people here that are mostly type A personalities. I have felt due to this it is hard to fit in with others at times.

Solid maternity leave (compared to other companies in this field) but no tuition reimbursement for my position. Requires strong work ethic and near type-A personality to thrive. Very competitive environment. However, I am an introvert with social aptitude and I am doing very well. Work/life balance can be challenging when you have kids/school/FT work, but not impossible.

I have been with the company for over 20 years. They will be fair and as flexible as you articulate you need. Work/Life balance is yours to own. I have stayed in client facing roles for the entire time, including after having 2 children, becoming divorced, and being a single mom (one with a great support network).

I have worked there for a short time (2 years) in an entry level analyst capacity. I find myself treated equally with my peers and enjoy the camaraderie that is present in peer groups and encouraged by project leaders. Due to the project nature of the consulting world, traveling is generally required, which is beginning to wear on me. There are definitely non-traveling opportunities available in the firm if you seek them out, though.

Public accounting is a hard field to find a work/life fit that is manageable. I do think Deloitte has programs available to make that easier, you just have to be willing to put in the effort to make it work.

I have found incredible sponsors all along the way at Deloitte. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but it can work through the flexibility Deloitte provides. I have three kids all born during my time at Deloitte and who are the world to me, but with a little creativity and lots of support both at work and home it can work.
