"I received no salary adjustments this year even though my performance review was positive, despite record high inflation and looming recession. It is largely speculated by staff we over-hired going into 2023, and staff were constantly asking in company -wide meetings why we were hiring so much given the market. When layoffs occurred, the leadership was not clear about it and has been criticised for not handling it well. To add insult to injury, a recent hire who is white, male, and seemingly uncomfortable with our modern work culture norms, is doing the same work as me and making considerably more than me. Beyond disappointing. Additionally, this year our only non-white C-level was replaced by a white cis male, and another much beloved C-level stepped down and a largely disliked senior staff member was promoted to their position. This individual has had numerous complaints against them. FreshBooks has a tendency to say their culture is one way but doesn't necessarily follow-through on it. Many teams do a great job of fostering positive environments for themselves and they seem to be largely happy, but overall the company is a bit ugly beneath the surface."

"In Canada you get 2 weeks full pay, then a maximum of 30 weeks EI top-up to 90% of your regular pay.
FreshBooks also provides a week's worth of pre-booked healthy meal service, and a special gift of baby swag.
There are some additional perks like continued benefit coverage, continued vacation time accrual, etc. It is a good plan, and can be used by dad's as well."

"Very little diversity in leadership. Seems to be a glass ceiling for anyone outside typical leadership stereotypes. "

"Learning and development is mostly focused on men. Women are often treated very differently, especially in meetings and when trying to convey a technical POV to other technical folks. There are also very very few women in executive level positions - the CEO constantly talks about how this happened solely because he "hires the right person for the job". Whilst their culture looks great from the outside, there is a dark side to FreshBooks that you only see once you spend time with the executive level personnel. "
