"There is still a lot of work to be done to make GitHub a better place for women and underrepresented minorities. But there are some awesome people already fighting hard for improvements and, overall, GitHub is one of the top 10 places to work in the US. I truly love working at GitHub, I believe in the company's values and I believe in our potential to be even better in the future."

"(Specifically about being a working parent.) I can't speak for all departments, but my department at UM-Dearborn is pretty family-friendly. U-M has a lot of work-life balance policies that make it a good place to work. There is emergency childcare service available, FSA. The campus has mother's rooms if you're breastfeeding and I am also fortunate enough to have a private office to make pumping easy. My supervisor was supportive about flexing my time/working from home when my child was an infant. (As a woman) There are women in many key leadership positions at the university and they're committed to diversity, equity and inclusion."

"Although policies may seem to promote work-life balance this may vary depending on the team and manager. Many managers do not value having a family thus will be far more strict when it comes to so-called flex-time. Management does not get involved in the way different departments are run (or will claim to rectify but never do). A lot of bad leadership overall with women consistently demoted or passed over for a mediocre white male."
