I feel that the HR folks at Blizzard are mostly women but they do nothing to help other women. In fact, they are the worst offenders with a "mean girls" mentality all the way up to the VP of HR who is also a woman.

Blizzard provides great flexibility when you need time off for your kids etc. however, they do not have work from home flexibility.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Depends on what role. The game teams are not female friendly even though they want to hire more females, they don't provide training to their employees and there is a lot of harassment that goes on unchecked.

I work on an incredible team that is family focused and supportive of lifestyle rhythms and balance. While not all of us are parents on the team, we have a culture that is committed to ensuring life and career are a blend and not an either or. Proud of how we promote one another and have fun while doing our best work.

I'd say, be prepared for what you think is going to happen. Men are going to hit on you because you're a chick in games, they're going to expect you to know nothing. But it's okay, because your coworkers know you're more than capable, and they wouldn't have hired you if you weren't.

GameStop is very flexible in that the market is all about change, especially when something doesn't benefit the company as a whole.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. It all depends on your interest. My only other female coworker was my manager, and she and I both played a lot of video games before working there, and we had a lot of interested women but the job is a lot harder than they'd think, because we often get hit on by some very terrible humans.
