It’s a very old company with old norms (women were always working in admin positions, men were reps overwhelmingly) but NM were making efforts to make more diverse hires. Benefits weren’t great because even though you worked for a huge company, if you worked in a field office it’s like working for a small family company. "

"The industry is male dominated, especially the sales roles. The sales role has a lot of individual milestones and accomplishments. Each advisors is primarily responsible for their own business. This can make it feel like there isn't a collaborative supportive work space. Once someone shows promise they will be tapped on the shoulder for leadership opportunities and recognition. There is structured mentorship if paired with a good mentor women would enjoy working here. Because there are more men in the industry mentors are often men who do not experience the challenges women might face. What I appreciate the most is that the company is making an effort to recruit and grow women advisors.
