There is a real paternalistic culture here. New people cycle in and out. There are a lot of women working here, but no one with real decision making power. Maternity leave was recently improved to 12 weeks paid (6 of those STD). It is a smallish company, but moves at the pace of a corporation sometimes which can be frustrating.

While a women's group was formed, for some reason, it was determined that no men would be allowed to join. So speakers come in and talk about women empowerment, but no men are there to understand the issues or help the cause. Also, when setting up the group, it was announced to the firm that the men in charge let the women set it up. It was an awful way to suggest what happened. Basically nothing else has changed.
