"The best advice I could give is in general. Document tricky correspondence. Also make sure you put time into your self reviews and then you follow through on your goals and document them each review period. Not many people do that (if any!) and it will help you in the long run."

"It's a safe place encourage open and direct communication. One of the few companies I have seen out there where all senior leaders including CEO host weekly office hours where people can join to share their feedbacks. Leadership team clearly focuses a lot on addressing concerns gathered from engagement survey and feedbacks. The remote first culture provides a level of flexibility to all employees, and it is not unusual for any employee to have time blocked off on their calendar for pick up/ drop off or to openly mention that they may be slow to respond due to a sick kid at home. Someone taking their parental leave will not have that held against them during performance reviews and we have seen multiple times where an employee has been promoted just before, during, or after their parental leave begins.
