TEKSystems is a consultant based staffing company. They are exceptional at keeping their consultants employed in positions. However, as in many staffing companies, the model is not full-time, salaried with benefits. The model is wage (excellent compensation), and minimalistic benefits.

We are getting a better flexible schedule for women with children. You should not have to worry about having kids and being successful with TEKsystems.

It'll be hard for you to get successful quick if you have other outside commitments and can't put in 10-12 hour days.

This varies per office but I know that our old Director (a man with a stay at home wife) was not flexible or understanding on things that involved family. Our new Director (a woman), is much more understanding.

Maybe. I don't feel that this is a good employer for working moms or those that want a work/life balance.

They are starting to put more of a focus on working moms, but still have a ways to go.

The maternity leave process can be confusing and compensation often gets messed up during leave. They do correct it, but it is a pain to have to check weekly and then follow up to get it corrected.

Though it will be challenging, you have the opportunity to close the well-known gender pay gap without hesitation. You can also impact an industry and profession that has significantly lacked gender and other elements of diversity and help to continue to pave the way for others like you.

Don't work as a contractor. They are interested in the bottom line and not individual career goals. After a contract ends, that's the end of the relationship since you are not of value to them any longer.

It is no better than working for any other contracting company. They lease employees as they would lease office equipment.

TEKsystems is truly committed to fostering the development and growth of women both locally and nationally. I personally have had the privilege to interact and work with a lot of powerful female leaders during my five year tenure and feel as though there is a great support network for other women looking to advance their career.
