"So, I have worked for quite a few companies. I have been around a while. But when you finally find a company that practices what they preach – a company that supports your values - - well, that is something!
In today’s world, companies have choices. There are many that ignore the changes happening in our society. Or some say that they “understand” but don’t put any of that “understanding” into practice. And we know that words are merely that – words. And actions speak volumes.
Since I have been at Teradata, I have seen an enormous offering of support around culture and diversity and equity and inclusion. It has surely been – and continues to be - an educational a journey for me – but one that I am glad I am on. Whether it is the Culture Champion Network that has its goal “to harness the collective power of influential employees across Teradata to accelerate change, build commitment, and transform our culture” or the multiple inclusion communities, there is a group of people here for you that are concerned about your well-being. They want to be sure that Teradata employees can bring their whole selves to work.
Just recently, there was an Allyship Conference organized by Teradata volunteers - - what an amazing experience. Hearing insights from others that have had very different experiences compared to my own expanded my view of the world, gave me a greater appreciation for my coworkers and increased my compassion for others. I know that my soul was touched.
Teradata is an amazing technology company. You know that. What you may not know is that it provides a great working environment, excellent benefits and possibly most importantly, the ability to work for an ethical company that really cares. As we say at Teradata, “Together really does transform us”.

"Participate in the many inclusion groups, which are a growing thing at Teradata....they started a bit organically, and have now grown to be very supported by the leadership, but driven from ground-up employee efforts.
These are wonderful venues to follow personal passions, interact with others from other countries, build your network.

"I'd say that over the years, with supportive managers, and hard work along the way, I've generally gotten more and more flexibility to pursue projects I'm interested in, follow topics (research and sales oriented) that excite me, and this has been rewarded. So this speaks to job role flexibility
But with work/life flexibility, they have been pretty flexible too. I've been able to take time off, and travel when I wanted, and frequently, work trips with a couple days tagged on have been a great time to drag my spouse along for a reconnaisance of the local area....which we'd then go back for a longer visit. That's been great.

"100% supportive of the work I do. Partly this is an artifact of me having a fair bit of seniority, but in the last few years, I've built a lot of technical interest areas, and was able to tailor my job description to match my interest areas. My manager hired me (internal transfer) based on those interest areas fitting in with the general job role of the people in the team"

"It is a great and supportive place to work. I feel valued and appreciated by my boss and team. During Covid - they have truly gone out of their way to help us all manage our work life and personal life. I love the all hands calls with the Doctor and a mental health expert."

"Everyone works really hard, but when you need a bit of a breather, you can usually step away pretty easily. Sure there are deadlines that make that hard, but there's good emphasis on mental well-being. They've been really good during COVID. So the people who have kiddos running around in the background during Zoom calls..... totally okay. "

"Teradata is on a path of transformation. "Teradata is the first company that I can see myself working at for the long term. I have a great team, really supporting manager, and a new CEO that is very inspiring, and motivating. "In PS there are very few female leaders and managers. Be prepared to be the only technical woman in the conversation, and find an advocate. The company culture seems to be getting more self aware, and many leaders are having tough conversations that I wouldn't have expected even a year ago. I am hopeful that will include addressing the PS workforce as well. "

"I think Teradata is a dynamic organization, going through a period of change, for the better. The working hours can mostly be flexible and the focus is on output rather than hours spent at your desk. The ability to log on from home and do your work in a flexible location is also a wonderful benefit. People are collaborative, it is a global environment and there is a real team spirit in the company. "

"I am seeing more and more women step into leadership roles and especially women who are being promoted internally. There is so much room for career growth, and they give you the resources to keep learning. They were quick to make a shift when the pandemic hit that allowed for a more balanced work/life schedule. "During the pandemic, it has never been more evident how much Teradata believes in its women and particularly in its mothers. With all of us having to deal with kids underfoot, we have been lifted up and given support to flex when we need to, work where we need to and how we need to. "I made my 2020 plan which included:
1) Focusing on healthcare as that is my passion - the company started a vertical in January and I was invited to join.
2) Making my sales quota and going to Monaco - and I am at 127% and am going on the sales trip.
3) Learning as much as possible and posting about healthcare daily - and I have learned a great deal. I find it hard to post daily but I certainly have been establishing my brand as a healthcare expert."

"The culture is improving a lot, and work/life balance is very good especially since the pandemic. The people are what makes working here so great!
Some downsides are not very many opportunities for promotion. However, with improving culture and new leadership, it's a great time to join. "

"My manager provides flexibility consistently. Because I have a global role, sometimes I have calls late or early. I am trusted to achieve outcomes, so I don't feel bad about leaving early when I have family events. I work about 45-50 hours per week on average."

"The technology is at the forefront in the industry, with a significant customer base that's growing. There have been recent leadership changes that have resulted in greater focus on execution and culture - which is a good thing. I'm able to have flexibility in my schedule to attend sporting events, or day-time school events, and the company provides unlimited vacation. "

"There are so many ambitious, smart, talented people to work alongside and learn from here at Teradata. I am impressed with the emphasis being placed on overall diversity at every level of the company and the level of training and support being targeted at some of the people further down in the organization. I'm excited to see where they can grow to and to see them rise into the leadership ranks in the future. Work/life balance is good and there is never a dull day. "
