"The company is cutting so much and adding so much work on you, that it's impossible to keep up. The morale at the company is extremely low. It's apparent to those who have been there for more than 10 years that they are getting rid of those that make a higher salary so they can bring in someone to make less and not have any knowledge. Experience is definitely not rewarded and neither is working hard. "
"The company has taken action on results from a recent benefits survey sent to all employees. We're seeing enhanced benefits that are important to working women and improved work-from-home policies. While the great majority of the workforce is men, the company is committed to hiring many more women in the future."
"The work is difficult but rewarding and challenging as you are building America. Positions in the field are difficult for women (i.e. few restrooms, no nursing stations, etc.) but those who can make it will move on to be leaders of the organization. Opportunities in the office and Omaha are more accommodating to women and raising a family. "
"Anyone who works hard and is solution-oriented has an opportunity to succeed and grow their career at Union Pacific. The work-life balance continues to improve, as does flexibility as COVID showed the world what can be accomplished through working from home. "
"UP is taking big steps to attract and retain women. I appreciate the company's enhanced maternity leave policy and education assistance programs, as well as the professional development and networking opportunities afforded through its female-led Employee Resource Group, LEAD."

"Union Pacific is very focused diversity, including developing women at all levels of the management pipeline. They are deliberate at implementing programs and support to help women succeed. They are intentional at listening to employees, and they put action plans in place based on survey feedback. "
"This is a great company to work for. Lots of variety in different work areas as well as developmental opportunities."
"It is a great company that the sky is the limit. You can succeed as much or as little as you like. You put in the time and effort and you will be rewarded here. Don't expect to be promoted because you are a women, expect to be promoted because of the work you do and the you earn it. "
"The benefits and pay are good, and there is an active company-sponsored women's group."

"Recent policy changes have made a huge impact. The enhanced paid maternity leave finally brought the company into this century, and the unlimited sick leave is incredibly helpful and makes me feel trusted. There is decent female representation in the corporate leadership structure, and the field seems to be getting better year over year. The current (2019) environment has been tough with the culture of layoffs, leaving most folks in the "If I get laid off, so be it" state of mind, where it used to be the end of the world if you were losing your job at UP. I foresee this balancing out starting in 2020. Overall, I do enjoy my job and the extracurricular activities through the Employee Resource Groups. The people you work with here become your best friends and that makes coming to work every day much easier!"

"I watched women struggle to receive the maternity leave benefits promised, prioritize their families and routinely have work-from-home and sick day requests scrutinized while my male colleagues had none of the same requests or barriers for the very same requests. Less than 10 percent of the company is female. Some locations don’t even have Women’s bathrooms available, and the personal protective equipment often doesn’t fit women."

"The company provides numerous opportunities for professional development and growth!"
"There are so many opportunities for women to engage in professional development and network to help you gain the most out of your career."
"There have been recent changes in policy that better support a family life. Take advantage of the policies that support this if it's part of your life goals. It's a new era at UP and things are changing. I do think it will be for the better in the long run. I think there are some good people in high places, but there are others who I question their core motives. Time will tell. It does make a difference to focus on your core work responsibilities and do the best you can. Take advantage of the benefits like tuition assistance and joining ERGs and professional organizations to make the most of your career growth."

"UP is an empowering place to be, especially now in times of change. The company seems more open to new ideas now more than ever. Our culture is tough at some times and we are heavily male dominant, however I see the company making conscious efforts to listen to the female population and make change. It's a work hard place, but can be very worth it if you are looking to grow your career. "

"This is a male dominant industry that I work in. "

"Union Pacific is a solid company who understands there are responsibilities outside of your job. "
"Get involved in other company initiatives and groups. This is the best way to network and find a mentor."
"This is a place to grow and make an impact."
"I would say that it is better now for women than it has been in the past and it can only get better with the leadership so focused on retaining women."
