Candy Embray is currently the Operating Company President of the Commercial and Farm Ranch division at American Family insurance. She has held this officer-level position within the American Family enterprise of companies since March 2020. Prior to that, Candy was the Vice President of Sales and Service Operations at American Family. Candy has spent her entire career in positions that have focused on the customer, starting with sales, buying and leadership roles at JC Penney. She joined American Family in 2001 and has held positions in underwriting, underwriting and operations leadership, human resources and the Sales division prior to being appointed to her current role. As division president, Candy leads a team of 300+ employees focused on operational commercial and farm ranch underwriting and policy servicing, customer and exclusive sales agent experience. Candy is passionate about Inclusive Excellence. She is currently a member of the American Family Inclusive Excellence Council. Candy is also an executive sponsor for the Women’s Business Resource Group. Candy is passionate about mentoring, and mentors with individuals from across American Family and outside the organization. She serves as a mentor for Building Brave, a Madison, WI-based online mentoring network for professional women, and serves on the board of directors for Starting Block Madison, a non-profit organization that supports start up businesses. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Family Children’s Hospital. Candy is an encourager who finds joy in helping others realize their potential, and inspiring them to walk into that potential.

Betty Bergquist was named the sales vice president for the West Region in November 2017. Betty began her career with AmFam in 1989 as an intern while attending college. She later joined the company full-time in 1991 as a casualty claim adjuster and then became an agent in 1995. In 1997, she moved to a marketing role, training new agents and assisting managers with recruiting. Later that year, Betty became a District Sales Manager in the state of Oregon, a new state for American Family. She assumed a District Manager role in Eastern Wisconsin in 2003, with a much larger sales force. In 2005 she became the Sales Director for the Utah/Idaho Sales State. In 2007 Betty became Vice President of the Education Division, and in 2012 she moved to the role as Vice President of Sales and Service Operations. In 2016, Betty was named Vice President of Business & Workplace Services. Betty has a double major in Finance and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She holds several insurance designations as well as a certified call center manager designation. She is an active member of her community, currently serving on various committees. Betty has been married to Tracy for more than 20 years, and they have two sons, Jon and Andy.

Kami began her career in the insurance industry in 2000, joining American Family Insurance in 2015. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS in 1998. Kami developed her knowledge of the insurance industry by working in a variety of different roles such as underwriting, desk claims adjuster and field claims adjuster on a national catastrophe team. She also worked as a field adjuster in the Houston, TX area. She promoted to a leadership role in Houston in 2007. Shortly after, Kami accepted a position in Kansas City as front-line supervisor. Kami was promoted to a branch manager in 2009. She is currently a branch manager for Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. She has completed two insurance designations including Graduate in Claims Administration and Associate in Claims. She demonstrates her passion for helping others through her collaborative and servant leadership style. Kami lives in Olathe, KS and is married to Robert Johnson. They have three daughters, Miah (17), Alyssa (13) and Mya (10). Kami has coached both recreational and competitive volleyball for 5 years and enjoys developing her girls into strong and confident players on (and off) the court.
