Career Conversations: Working Mothers

Amy Joyce has been at the Washington Post in various roles since 1996. She is currently the editor and a writer for On Parenting at the Washington Post, her favorite job yet. She lives in Washington with her husband, two sons (13 and 10) and dog, and can now often be found on the front porch, trying to find a quiet space to work.

Claudia Chan is a recognized author, leadership and culture change expert, and entrepreneur dedicated to activating individuals and organizations to accelerate diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and world. She is the CEO of S.H.E. GLOBL, a coalition+content+convening platform that helps over 100 companies unlock a diverse and inclusive workforce to transform both its culture and its communities. She is the founder of their award-winning leadership conference S.H.E. Summit that has made advancing women and workplace inclusion both accessible and actionable.

Kari Clark founded Uplift out of her own experience. She has two kids (ages 6 and 4) who both made her better at her job and life. Post-kids, she made a significant career shift, saw improved performance reviews, lost 45 pounds and gave away half of her possessions. Life changes like having a baby are proven to be great times to adopt new habits. She wants to rewrite the script on what being a working mom means. Before Uplift, Kari worked at Google for eight years in marketing and product management. She invented their Live Case product for which she holds a patent, and co-created products with Jeff Koons, Skrillex, and Jeremy Scott. Kari has also worked in product, digital strategy, and production at Apple, Publicis, and MKG Productions, respectively. She has won numerous awards, including a Clio, FITC's Best Game of the Year, OMMA's Best B2B Campaign, and first place in the IDEO Challenge.

Robbie Green is the Working Mom’s Coach! She works with Working Women, especially Working Moms, to help them achieve a better quality of life, as they fulfill the demanding role of mom and employee.Robbie is a certified Professional and Executive coach. She holds a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in Communications from the University of Memphis. She is an Industrial and Organizational Professional, holding a Master’s in Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, from the University of Phoenix. Robbie is a Working Parent Coach with the Award Winning Global Consultancy, Talking Talent. She has over 20 years combined experience in the Communications, Business Development and Information Technology Industries.

Marsha Waters is a manager with over 18 years of experience supporting clients transform their organizations using innovative technologies and business solutions. She has spent the majority of her career in consulting but now serves as the Chief of Staff to the CTO in Deloitte Services LP . She is mom to three wonderful children, loves to travel and spends much of her free time planning her next trip.
