Do you have any advice for someone returning to work after being a stay-at-home mom?
I have both a BS and MS, but haven't actively worked for ten years. I volunteered quite a bit before COVID, but haven't had much extra time since I started homeschooling my children.
I'd put the volunteer experience on your resume, and label the area "professional experience." I would also add the homeschooling. That shows you were doing something that kept you active and engaged.
I also would do some informational interviewing and networking and meet folks who are willing to hire a mom trying to transition back into work. Maybe you can pick up some freelance work, and then transition into a full-time role.
What kind of work are you looking for? What are your strengths? Have you taken any courses or certificate programs in the last few years?
You may want to start something part-time that can grow into a full-time position.
