Hi Moms!
Curious- I haven't been to a conference before and would love to hear some advice for how to best network.
There are several things you can do to improve networking opportunities at a conference. Stay at the hotel where the conference is being held. You will have more opportunities to interact with speakers, vendors and participants. Have a plan -- create a list of contacts that will be helpful to you. Make a point of visiting those booths or seeking those people out to make an introduction. Have some conversation starters ready -- the weather, what brought that person to the conference, where are you from, what industry are you in, how long have you been with XX company, which speaker has been your favorite, what other conferences do you attend, etc. Make sure you are also open to those who might be seeking you out to introduce themselves to you. Wear your name tag in a visible way -- I usually recommend just below your right shoulder -- so as you lean in to shake hands (COVID??) your name tag is presented clearly.
