I was recently laid off from my 2nd job in 8 months. I’m 41 and had never been let go of a job until this past July at 40. To say I’m frustrated with myself is an understatement. I lost both of these jobs through no fault of my own but I still feel like a failure. I’ve wanted to be my own boss for a few years now but I’m not a risk taker so I’m thinking a franchise may be the way to go. Does anyone on here have any experience with this? I’d like to open a coffee shop that has a charitable aspect to it but I’ve heard a franchise may be cheaper and it helps minimize the risk. I’d love to get feedback on this. Now seems like as good a time as any to take the leap so I’m seriously considering it.
