I was recently offered a severance package from an engineering firm after only working 52 days.
I was hired on as a Sales Account Executive and was tasked with maintaining existing clients while prospecting for new clients to utilize our MEP, sustainability consulting, and Cx services. I had recently gotten married in August and they were completely supportive or offering me the time off. I came back from PTO fully ready to dive into my role. I then was let go 2.5 weeks after. The reason being leadership didn't have the capacity to train or onboard me. I need advice on how to move forward and trust my judgement for the next job opportunity that comes around and hope there is longevity.
Your judgement wasn't off, the landscape that you got hired into changed.
Hiring mistakes, missteps, or misjudgments at any hiring company are not your fault but you can learn from those experiences.
I would bet that during your next set of interviews...
You'll be asking a few questions about that hiring company's onboarding and training processes.
You'll probably be asking about how you can contribute value to the new company if the training schedule needs to be adjusted because the trainers are busy.
You might ask if the hiring company has ever had to adjust anyone's training schedule, what they did in that example to ensure that the new employee was able to contribute value, and do they have additional training resources?
