What is the most challenging part of balancing your career and parenting roles this summer? What are you anticipating being the most difficult part of this delicate balance act during the pandemic?
Wow! That's hot! It's perfectly reasonable that she wouldn't want to go out side unless it's to splash in water! It's supposed to be 85 degrees here this week and we're bracing for what will likely be our "hottest week of the summer"...
You mentioned that you're practically bribing her to read, but I was wondering, does she enjoy being read to? Sometimes, doing more reading to them can increase how much fun it is and motivate their interest in wanting to do it "for themselves". Throw in some "cuddle time" (if it's not too hot!!) with the reading and you may have a perfect blend.
Let me know how it goes. And I hope you get a reprieve from the hot weather!
(As a P.S., I'm going to post a re-post a link on the group page to a recent article on 'dealing down screen time' - let me know what you think...)
Thanks! Yes we are trending at 95-100 degrees each day. She is 5, will be 6 in September.
I’ve had a difficult time finding outdoor activities for her due to the heat. She’s in this “technology is everything” phase, so just trying to break her away from video games and begging her to read more has become a bribery game. Haha! So most of our outdoor time is shopping and dining out. She is upset that the pools are closed so I bought a splash pad. That’s the only way she’ll play outside ?
This is such a tough time with COVID! Plus if you're dealing with hot weather - yikes! It's not too hot here, but when it rains, the humid heat is unpleasant. The splash pad sounds like fun! I would hope that, if that is fun for her and helps her keep cool, you may have solved the problem! High five!! How old is your daughter?
