Looking for opportunities to network and find a job!
I graduated in Fall 2019, (a Master of Science in Information Systems and Services Management) but we were living in Japan at the time. Then we PCS’d to North Carolina in the middle of the pandemic. So, I decided to stay home to take care of the kids. Now I am ready to go back to work, but it has not been easy to find an opportunity that would take my degree into consideration. I’d really appreciate your advice and support to rejoin the workforce.
When you say "take your degree into consideration," do you mean compensate you for the degree, recognize the degree (if not from a US-accredited institution), or consider you for roles with your education, but no experience?
Where in NC are you located? Feel free to message me if you're more comfortable with that. I'm in NC (though not in tech), and I'm happy to offer any help/suggestions for the region.
A degree is a very small part of requirements in general. Most companies just see that as a box checked.
I would lean more heavier on your experience and possibly gain a few current certifications. I would network with you alumni from university and reach out to professors that knew of your work and let them know you're looking.
You might want to consider temporary contract work if you don't have currently experience.
