Ladies, I’m so happy to join this group!
My passion is in diversity and inclusion. I currently work in the automotive industry, where the majority of the employees are men. One thing I’ve noticed in the current location I’m working is the attitude of women towards men. Unfortunately, there’s a complex among the women here and an assumption that it’s okay to belittle men and make it clear how different our genders are. Unfortunately, one thing I heard today was a woman in management refer to a man as “little man.” That’s not okay. It’s not okay to belittle and step on others when trying to be seen/heard, especially when moving up the ladder. I’m sure you ladies would speak positively on your way to break the glass ceiling. By all means, be authentic, but work with grace and compassion, even if you’re the only woman in the room. How you represent yourself is your brand and it shows others how you want to be treated. Be the queens I know you can be!
Agreed, not ok to belittle anyone, much less half of our population. I love that you're in the automotive industry. My first major in college was auto mechanics and I loved tinkering with engines and motors! I switched a bunch of times though... now I own a marketing agency. What do you do in the industry?
Welcome!! Thank you for the advice :)
?????? Thank you!!
Just because we are all facing the challenge of a gender gap within the workforce doesn’t mean all men are terrible. We are strong women! We don’t need to belittle or hold angst against those that we are only trying to feel equal to. I so appreciate this post because I do see female leaders constantly undermining men and devaluing their skill sets just for their gender.
Welcome! Great advice!
