Girl Boss Moves

Hi, what is your biggest struggle when it comes to being a #girlboss?

Mine is delegating. When it comes to my level of quality of work, I can do it, but, when I hire others to complete tasks on my behalf, the quality diminishes. I don't WANT to be a micromanager... I promise! But how can I delegate successfully and still maintain high quality without paying an arm and a leg? What is your biggest struggle?

re: delegating - one mindset shift that might help is to think about hiring people that fill in your gaps. There are things that you are great at, and there are things that you are competent or less than competent at. In the second bucket, it will take a lot of your time and energy to complete those tasks, whereas if you hire someone who is great at them they will be able to do the same work quickly and with high quality. If you delegate from category 1 (things you are great at) you get less leverage from the person and maybe they aren't as good as you. If you focus on category 2 you might get more out of the report and also take away things that you shouldn't be doing. I make a list of all my least favorite things to do and then find a way to eliminate, change the task or delegate - might be an exercise worth giving a go!

Carve time out to train staff to the level of quality you expect. Build positive and motivating and supportive relationships with them. Learn to trust them or weed out the ones you know u can’t.
