Does librarianship count as public service?

I know this is mainly a group for government official workers but since I want to be a librarian and they deal with public service, does that count for this group too?

I'm not sure what the question is. However in every state that I have lived in, being a librarian was a government job within the public sector. Unless you work for a private library.
