IBM

Consultant, IT

Since I started working for IBM, I have loved it. I was well-received, have been encouraged to take on more responsibility and leader-roles, got great benefits and hours flexibility. However, there is still a big gender gap but IBM is currently trying hard to reduce it and want to hire more women.

Interbrand

Consultant, Strategy & Business Development

Working at Interbrand still means working with high-level, high-visibility clients — so it's still a valuable add to your resume. Find someone in leadership, whether they're your manager or not, to advocate for you early on, and you'll have an easier time — or, at least, someone to talk you through this.

I saw many women who made leadership and motherhood work — and seemingly work well — simultaneously.

  • Recommend to Women?

Maybe. Although the company is predominantly run by domineering men, there are a handful of amazing women who are standout leaders, and are incredible people to learn from — even in a strained environment like this one. Sometimes they alone made working on projects bearable.

Pariveda treats women and men equally. All salaries are exactly the same across all levels. No uneven bonuses or stock options are given - either everyone receives an extra 401k match, or no one does, depending on financials that year, for example.

I can work remotely to a limited extent if I have household or personal responsibilities. I personally am suited well for remote work, so I'd like the opportunity to work from home maybe 1 day a week, but due to the nature of our client-facing job, a lot of the remote work decision is outside of Pariveda's control and depends on the client.

It is a great place to work in terms of being respected as a woman. However, a lot of women (and men) leave once they have children as it is difficult to manage the consulting lifestyle with a structured family schedule.

The nature of consulting makes it difficult to have a lot of flexibility as we have to meet client demands. However, I think the lower levels of management in my office strive to be flexible.
