One Thing Employer Could Improve
Unilever has great policies- on paper. The company does an excellent job of propagating its women- friendly policies and whipping up major PR points for its Sustainability program. However, in practice, the work culture is sexist and ruthless, Women are tolerated during pregnancy but frequently shafted out of the system within months of re-joining work after their maternity leave. I can quote 3 examples from the recent past. While in the organization, the culture tests a new mother mercilessly. The organization needs to put its heart where its mouth is and actually execute its policies with some efficiency.
