I have not used the maternity leave, but I've been told you get 6 weeks, and can use an additional week of 'personal time'. Even after the maternity leave period, the UTCflex program makes it easy to work from home a couple days a week to be with your newborn if you want/need.

A new policy was put into place called UTCflex, where you have multiple options that can be approved by your manager/HR. I have a member of my team who lives 3 hours away in Queens and works remotely every day. Another employee comes in at 10am and leaves at 6-7pm, and my boss even works from home 1-2 times a week to save on child care. UTCflex has definitely helped with work-life balance at UTC (UTAS specifically).

I like my work and I think there are a lot of kind people at my job. I especially think that the other women are kind and supportive. I struggle with some of the men I work with, some have a difficult time working with women because their egos get in the way.

The culture and my direct groups are understanding to the family dynamic. The policies are limiting, and the HR department actively doesn't support family time (one HR rep purposefully tried to shut down the lactation room while about ten women were using it).

Maybe. I would love more women to work at my company. I don't think the environment is as accepting as it can be of women, but that won't be solved until more women work at the company.

They are super patronizing and rude individuals. No respect to the employees.

If the plant goes down then you're required to drop everything and suddenly work 12 hour shift 6 days a week. Nonsense.

It's a terrible atmosphere, no one talks to me, I barely get handed work while others around me have work. I was passed up for any kind of salary increase and we do not, if rarely, get bonuses.
