I have been in numerous socials with co-workers since my first job in various companies. Some groups fade after a year or two, others stay with you for a lifetime. Personal time is separate from work time. The key is staff don't let the personal affect work matters and work behavior. Also, depends on HR policies of the workplace. In one job, no one is allowed to date & obviously marry each other. Well the folks that married left, have been happily married & moved on with their lives. Another job has the sexual harrassment clause/policy apply to outside of the office. Hence, there is still professionalism maintained when co-workers get together.

Is there anyone on here who is or has worked in a SUPER TOXIC environment & left before they had another job lined up b/c it was INSANELY STRESSFUL & PURE HELL???

I need an advice. Today, I am about to resign from a toxic, filled with gaslighting culture, workplace. I am grateful for the chance to exit with grace. However, I am torn whether I should send the HR a letter detailing gaslighting and at times discriminatory behavior of my immediate supervisor? The letter would serve as a warning to protect others who are still working at the company and home I hold in great regard. While my supervisor was an instrument of toxicity, I believe that she was infected by the company's culture and was acting as its tool. I do not hold her personally responsible for 100% of the damage. But the letter would only name her and I am hesitant for the hammer to come down on her only. This would be unjust. Do I send the letter or burn in and move on with my life?

Looking Back at a Then-Job Offer

I was given the most confusing letter informing me I was under investigation with a particular employee whose name was not disclosed nor was the violation I was potentially accused of disclosed and was asked provide a letter on the communication between this undisclosed employee referencing 3 dates. The letter was also written poorly as it sounded like I could not speak to anyone while at work and if I felt I was in a security risk to seek authority and call 911. I was in total shock when asked to read this letter. I looked up and said what is this about and who is the complaint and what policy did I violate. I was verbally told the name and what the 3 dates referenced that I was supposed to be responding my side to and the policy I potentially violated was the workplace violence policy. I was in HR for this company for 27 years and have been extremely in disbelief and distress over this and not sure if I should entertain this at all or how to answer when I don’t know what I violated to defend myself. Do I need a lawyer before I provide my response to this letter of directive to what I think my conversation was about? I’m totally in another zone right now that someone I thought I could be open and honest with in expressing my dislike for her actions towards me went to this extreme and caused me mental anguish as if I am a threat to her for being real woman to woman. Unbelievable but people will be people.

I’m annoyed I’m 30 years old. I quit my job at 29 because of a toxic workplace. They paid me only one check to do two jobs. My supervisor that used that would help take some of the blows for me left and when the other leadership came it was my expectation to do the work. I had to reinterview for my job because they had to justify my position from part-time to full time. I had an office coordinator position but during the interview I was told that I would be working the budget which was not told to me prior and I would have to do a presentation. I have never heard of doing a presentation for a non academic position. I thought usually people in academics did presentations for jobs positions. The salary was disappointing which was the last straw for me. I went to do a call center job right after and nobody warned me how stressful that could be. Everyday I was almost to tears because I needed the job and it was my first full-time job. After 6months of the constant blows I could not take it anymore and I left again. Present day, it has not been easy to find a job. I have a degree in Marketing but the companies that I have been applying to are not calling me back. I have found that when I put my high school education and I have gotten more of a call back. When I go to the interviews I believe I do well, I ask for feedback but no one gives it. It took me a while to decide on the specific field I want to try but I have little experience in that field. I did get a call back for a job in the field but now I am nervous because I don’t know what to study for the potential interview about the job. I just know that job really sounds good and I want to do my best, what should I do? It’s really overwhelming to study so much stuff in a short period of time. The recruiter says there may be interview slot to open this week.
