What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing the direct impact and contribution of our marketing efforts to the success and overall growth of the business, whilst effectively engaging and communicating with our customers in a way that is meaningful.
What is the most challenging part of your job? How did you overcome it?
A career in field marketing requires managing and working across a variety of projects and many stakeholders simultaneously. For me personally, this is both the most appealing and most challenging thing about my role. It’s never a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to marketing and this requires diligent strategic planning and tight collaboration amongst teams. Interlinked with this is the need to constantly drive engagement with our clients. We have a great story to tell at Equinix and we have to ensure we communicate that effectively to our new prospects and existing customers in an impactful way. Relevance is key and we work to deliver significant value to organizations that view their digital infrastructure strategy as a source of competitive advantage.
What do you enjoy about working at Equinix?
The thing I enjoy most about working for Equinix is the team of people I have the pleasure to work with on a daily basis. The working culture we foster at Equinix is focused on promoting and encouraging diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and places a strong emphasis on bringing your authentic self to the job every day. For me this is really important as it’s the type of working culture and environment I want to be part of.
How have you developed in your role since joining the team at Equinix?
I joined Equinix in September 2016 responsible for field marketing for Ireland, Poland and Bulgaria. During my time in that role, I was fortunate enough to take on the opportunity to lead the Equinix Women’s Leader’s Network (EWLN) in Ireland and sat on the senior management team for the business in Ireland. I was also able to develop my skills in marketing by participating in various courses and trainings that were provided by Equinix.
In March of 2020, I was promoted to Senior Manager of Field Marketing for South East Asia and relocated my life to Singapore. Most recently I have signed up as participant and group lead for our WeAreEquinix DIB initiative in Singapore.
Whilst career development has always been something I strive for, personal development is something that goes hand in hand with any level of progression - and the journey doesn’t stop here.
What opportunities have been presented to you since joining Equinix?
The wonderful thing about working for a truly global company is that in my four years at Equinix I have had the pleasure to work across and be exposed to various projects over a number of markets – from event management to international expansions, to ‘Equinix Impact’ (CSR) and DIB activities. I have also had the unique opportunity to develop my career within Equinix by relocating to an entirely different region to further my skills as a marketer. Because of the value Equinix places on its people, I’ve also been presented with many opportunities for self-development as well as career development.
What would be your No.1 tip for someone new joining Equinix?
Bring your authentic self to work every day. Enjoy what you do and advocate that to those around you. Be the energy supplier to that team.
