Flexible working
In a truly flexible work environment, individuals and teams decide together how and where work gets done.

That's why PwC is creating a new paradigm of work. One where individual goals are respected as much as professional goals, and contribution is measured by results, not by the number of hours you spend in the office.

To do this, the firm offers several formal flexible work arrangements - from telecommuting to a compressed workweek. Leaders and colleagues work collaboratively to assess these arrangements in the context of needs of the individual, the team and the client.

The formal flexible work arrangements PwC include:
- Reduced Hours: reducing hours to less than a regular full-time week
- Flextime: work hours move earlier or later than "regular" business hours
- PwC@Home: Formal telecommuting, routinely working from home three or more days per week
- PwC Offsite: Telecommuting, routinely working from home one or two days per week
- Job-Sharing: Two people jointly fulfill the responsiblities of one full-time position
- Compressed Workweek: Standard hours compresed into fewer than five work days
- Sabbatical: Leave of absence while maintaining benefits and a reduced salary rate

Additional information
Just as families are built in different ways, each parent has different needs when it comes to managing the challenges of parenthood and a career. We developed our programs in response to what PwC parents and other caregivers told us they needed most -- the flexiblity to juggle competing priorities and support in finding resources for childcare and eldercare or counseling. We constantly evaluate these programs to assess that they're working and make adjustments accordingly.

Our flexible resources for families include:

- Nursing Mom's program
- Just-in-Case program reimburses staff up to $1,000 per year for the cost of emergency backup child and elder care
- Parenting circles
- Network and educational resources for disability caregivers
- Full Circle On/Off Ramps program for care-givers leaving the workforce for up to 5 years
- Comprehensive resource and referral for all things care-giving related (including one-on-one consultations with Masters-level consultants)
- Nanny resource and referral
- The firm has arranged discounts with thousands of leading childcare organizations across the country. We also offer a dependent care flexible spending account.
