      Women@ZS is one of our many ZSer-led Inclusion & Diversity Groups (IDGs). All of our IDGs, including Accessibility@ZS, Asian@ZS, the Black and Hispanic Alliance (BHA), Jewish@ZS, Pride@ZS and Veterans@ZS, work together to help drive positive change across ZS.

      Overview

      The Family Leave Program is intended to give ZSers time away from work in conjunction with the birth or adoption of a child or the serious health condition of a family member. ZS recognizes the important role that parents and caregivers play when there is a change in family status or a family member is diagnosed with a serious illness. In recognition of ZSers' roles with their family, ZS created one overarching program –the Family Leave Program. 

      Paid maternity
      Yes, new mothers have 6 weeks of Maternity Leave and 10 weeks of Family Leave paid at 100% normal pay (16 total weeks). Additional time can be provided utilizing someone's own vacation, sick, and/or taking unpaid leave up to a total of 26 weeks.
      Unpaid maternity
      Yes, if a new mother does not have any vacation or sick time to utilize to extend their 16 weeks of paid leave then they can take up to 10 weeks of unpaid leave for a total of 26 weeks of leave.
      Paid paternity
      Yes, ZS's 10 weeks of family leave can be used for life events such as the birth of a child and can be used intermittently over a rolling 12 months from day of birth.
      Unpaid paternity
      Yes, if a new father does not have any vacation or sick time to utilize to extend their 10 weeks of paid leave then they can take up to 16 weeks of unpaid leave for a total of 26 weeks of leave.
      Paid adoptive
      Yes, ZS's 10 weeks of family leave can be used for life events such as the adoption of a child and can be used intermittently over a rolling 12 months from the first usage of family leave.
      Short term disability
      Yes, ZSers retain their elected benefits coverage while on Maternity/Parental/Family Leave.

      ZS offers a comprehensive health plan that includes maternity & child birth benefits. ZS also offers a dependent care flexible spending account (FSA) to assist with child care costs, as well as a health care FSA to assist with out of pocket health care costs.
