"It was alright, but the pay was not livable wage"

The opportunity door for skilled, hard working, dedicated team members is held tightly shut by the individuals that indeed sold the idea initially at orientation. Promotions and opportunities are not designed as an open invitation to whom desires they should be qualified and considered. Unfortunately, the leadership roles more often have gone to “on paper qualified” individuals, but lack in leading first with the company’s vision, mission, and culture. It sadly can spoil a great workplace and team members under such leadership lose their platform of excelling in their careers and what is ultimately lost as a result is the driving force and what this entire industry is built on- providing an individualized experience for guests that is of the highest quality of hospitality. "

"Hospitality has traditionally been a male-dominated field (whether it's ownership of actual hotels or employee makeup of a hospitality company) and it can sometimes feel like a boys club. That's changing slightly but important to keep that in mind as you work on projects and learn about the company. "

"The company pats itself on the back for 10 weeks of mat leave which is nicer than 0 but it is hardly enough time to leave a newborn in someone else's care. There's also no evidence of an audit to check that women and men are paid fairly. There's also only 2 women in our executive committee, but plenty of women in the pipeline so I wonder where the glass ceiling comes in. "

In my time here (10+ years) I've been provided opportunities to do things I have never done, travel to places I've never been and have grown my career more than I expected. Hilton is a great place to work and I feel my contributions to the organization are properly recognized and rewarded. Overall Hilton embraces diversity of all kinds. Diversity is built into our culture. The only gap in this statement is our executive leadership. There are many women in leadership roles through the senior director level; however when you get to the VP and higher level there are significantly less women in those roles. It is my understanding that this is something the company is actively working to address and change (4/13/18 date of this review)."
